This year, the tour is partnering with SlammedUK’s Gravity Show at the NEC in Birmingham, adding a new dimension to the live event experience.
On August 24 and 25, the NEC will host the three finalists, with the ultimate winner being chosen by a panel of judges led by Hot Wheels designer Craig Callum. The winner will then compete in the Global Semi-Final on November 2 and the Global Grand Finale on November 11, aiming for the honor of becoming a globally sold die-cast model.
Now in its seventh year, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has expanded its reach to include new countries like the UAE and Colombia. The tour continues to be a cornerstone event in the global car community, celebrating creativity and automotive culture. Last year, a modified Mazda MX-5 from New Zealand, named Chimera, was crowned the global winner and transformed into a beloved Hot Wheels toy.
The Journey to Legendary Status
UK car enthusiasts are invited to enter their vehicles, whether new, classic, road, or track-ready, by submitting a short video and description at www.hotwheelsuklegendstour.co.uk before July 5. Entrants are judged on authenticity, creativity, and 'garage spirit,' with judges seeking unique and on-trend vehicles that stand out from the crowd.
For the third consecutive year, the UK’s representation at the Global Finale has been strong. In 2023, Michael Wallhead’s MG 'B-EAST' made it to the global stage, following the success of Lee Johnstone's 1969 Volvo P1800 gasser in 2021, which became the first non-US car to win the overall competition.
A Celebration of Creativity and Enthusiasm
Ted Wu, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Design for Vehicles at Mattel, highlights the passion and innovation seen at Hot Wheels Legends Tour events. "The dedication and enthusiasm we see at Hot Wheels Legends Tour events around the world keep us motivated to build on the tour every year to find more ways to celebrate custom car builders and their drive to become legendary," he said. The UK finals are noted for their diversity, featuring everything from sleeper classics and wild custom builds to iconic race cars and the latest supercar modifications.
