AC Cars to Launch Its First Hardtop Model in 123 Years

AC Cars has never before ventured into the realm of hardtops. However, this is set to change with the highly anticipated introduction of the AC Cobra GT Coupe.

David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, promises that the new Cobra GT Coupe will deliver "an incredible, racing car-like experience on either the road or the track." This bold statement is backed by a compelling blend of advanced technology and performance features.

The GT Coupe will utilize AC's newly developed aluminum chassis paired with a carbon fiber body. Under the hood, it will boast a formidable V8 engine with standard power output of 456 horsepower. For those seeking even more thrills, the engine can be supercharged to deliver a staggering 730 horsepower. The Clubsport Edition takes things to the next level with a jaw-dropping 810 horsepower, designed to offer an “extremely agile and ferocious road-legal car.” Despite its impressive power, the Cobra GT Coupe will remain relatively compact, measuring just 4.2 meters in length with a 2.57-meter wheelbase. AC Cars aims for a near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity, with the Clubsport Edition’s target weight set to be under 1,450 kilograms.

With such specifications, the GT Coupe is expected to be more than just intimidating—it promises to be an exhilarating driving machine. The design pays homage to the AC A98 coupe, a vehicle that made history at Le Mans in 1964 and reached 180 mph on the M1.
