Now, MG is hinting at the possibility of adding a coupe version to its lineup.
At the recent 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K., MG unveiled the Cyber GTS concept. This coupe version of the Cyberster features 2+2 seating and a roofline reminiscent of the classic MGB GT. MG highlighted the design inspiration from the MGC GTS Sebring racing variant, which achieved notable success by finishing third in class and 10th overall at the 1968 12 Hours of Sebring, marking MG's best result.
While detailed specifications for the Cyber GTS concept were not disclosed, it is expected that any production model will closely align with the performance figures of the Cyberster. Currently, buyers can choose between the rear-wheel-drive Cyberster GT, rated at 335 horsepower, or the all-wheel-drive Cyberster Trophy, which offers an impressive 496 horsepower. The Cyberster Trophy accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
In terms of range, the Cyberster GT and Cyberster Trophy achieve 316 miles and 276 miles respectively, as measured on the WLTP cycle used internationally. These figures would likely be lower when tested under the more stringent EPA cycle used in the United States.
As of now, MG is still assessing whether there is sufficient interest to warrant the production of the Cyber GTS. The concept model currently lacks an interior, but the final design is anticipated to mirror the convertible's dashboard layout.
If the Cyber GTS does enter production, it is unlikely to be available in the U.S. market due to MG's current absence in the region.
MG’s return to the forefront with the Cyberster and the potential Cyber GTS marks an exciting development for fans of the brand and electric sports cars alike.
