Tesla's Cybertruck, already a symbol of futuristic design and innovation, is now being reimagined for extreme conditions, including overlanding and battlefield scenarios.

At the heart of this transformation is a cutting-edge generator designed to fit seamlessly into the Cybertruck's front trunk (or "frunk"). Dubbed the Genset, this single-piston generator is versatile enough to run on multiple fuel types, including jet fuel, diesel, and biodiesel. With a maximum charging capacity of 125 kW, the Genset is not just for personal use; it can also charge other electric vehicles (EVs) via an included cable. Equipped with Tesla's proprietary North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector, the Genset also includes adaptors for non-NACS vehicles, making it a flexible solution for various scenarios.

Military-Grade Armor and Protective Upgrades

But Archimedes Defense isn't stopping at just power solutions. In collaboration with Unplugged Performance's upfitting division, they introduced a series of protective upgrades tailored for civilian and military applications. These upgrades, branded under the name "Sting," are available in three distinct packages, each offering a different level of protection.

Sting Baja Package: This entry-level package is designed for off-road enthusiasts and includes a satellite receiver for Starlink connectivity, mounted conveniently in the truck's bed. It also comes with the Genset generator, ensuring that you have power and connectivity no matter where you roam.

Sting Protector Package: For those facing more substantial risks, the Sting Protector package adds a robust off-road kit and steel armor capable of withstanding 7.62mm assault rifle rounds. Ideal for environments classified as "moderate threat," this package ensures that the Cybertruck is not just durable but also secure.

Sting APC Package: When maximum protection is a must, the Sting APC package delivers. It fortifies the Cybertruck with steel and armor plating designed to defend against 14.5mm heavy machine gun fire, as well as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and mines. This package is designed for extreme threat environments, providing the ultimate in vehicle safety and occupant protection.

Pricing and Availability

While Archimedes Defense has not yet announced pricing for these upgrades, the ambition behind the project is clear: to turn the Tesla Cybertruck into a vehicle that can handle anything from rugged off-road adventures to high-risk tactical missions.

Tesla's Upgrades

Interestingly, Tesla has also been working on enhancements for the Cybertruck. The company plans to offer a range extender in early 2025. This add-on, essentially a battery about the size of a toolbox, will fit against the back of the cab and is expected to cost around $16,000. With this range extender, the Cybertruck's total range could increase from an estimated 318 miles to an impressive 470 miles.

A New Frontier for the Cybertruck

As Tesla's Cybertruck evolves, so too does its appeal. Originally designed as an all-electric pickup for everyday use, it is now being re-envisioned as a vehicle capable of handling some of the most demanding and dangerous environments on the planet. Whether you're preparing for an overland expedition or considering the ultimate in vehicular protection, the Cybertruck's new upgrades offer a glimpse into a future where electric vehicles are not just about sustainability, but also about survival.
