The SC63 made its racing debut at the inaugural round of the World Endurance Championship in Qatar during early March. Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat, and Edoardo Mortara drove the car to a 14th place finish.
Lamborghini has joined forces with the Italian racing team Iron Lynx for its LMDh program, competing under the name Lamborghini Iron Lynx. All LMDh race cars are equipped with a hybrid powertrain that includes a control Xtrac transmission, battery, and motor-generator unit to help manage costs.
Constructors have the freedom to select the internal-combustion part of the powertrain, and Lamborghini has chosen to develop its own twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine for the LMDh program. Additionally, constructors can customize the gear ratios for the transmission and the differential slip.
In addition, constructors must utilize a control chassis that resembles a current LMP2 chassis, which can be obtained from one of four suppliers: Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic, and Oreca. Lamborghini has opted for a chassis from Ligier. Being the first constructor to select this chassis, Lamborghini was able to collaborate with Ligier to finalize the specifications according to its specific requirements.
