Oilstainlab's HF-11: A Bold Vision for the Future of Supercars

Oilstainlab has made a name for itself by building cars that resemble unfinished Le Mans prototypes from the '60s. Their earlier creation, the Half11, combined elements of vintage Can-Am racers with a bold, imaginative flair that caught the attention of car enthusiasts at events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This positive reception led potential buyers to inquire about owning one, sparking the idea for a production model.

"We started thinking about how to make a product that people actually want to buy," explains Nikita Bridan.

The HF-11: A Lightweight, Aggressive Machine

The HF-11 is designed to be a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive supercar with a target weight of just 2,000 pounds, thanks to a custom carbon-fiber tub and composite body panels. This aggressive weight target will make it one of the lightest supercars in its class. While Nikita dreams of producing the HF-11 with a hand-crafted aluminum body, the team will rely on carbon composites for practicality.

Supporting this lightweight frame are subframes constructed from Docol R8 high-strength steel, tubular suspension components, and adjustable Öhlins dampers. The race version will ride on 18-inch wheels, while street variants will be equipped with 19- and 20-inchers. Visually, the HF-11 features a front design reminiscent of a streamlined Porsche 911, with a rear that evokes the open, aggressive lines of a Jaguar F-Type.

A Choice Between EV and ICE Power

One of the HF-11’s most unique features is its dual powertrain option. Customers can choose between a 650-horsepower, 4.5-liter flat-six engine that revs to 12,000 rpm, or an 860-horsepower electric motor that reaches 13,000 rpm. The remarkable part? The powertrains are modular and can be swapped out, allowing owners to switch between an internal combustion engine and an electric setup in their own garage.

"It's not really a powertrain swap; it's a subframe swap," explains Nikita. "One of my crazy childhood memories was Audi swapping an entire rear subframe out at Le Mans in 2000, and they did it in four minutes. That inspired this concept."

Both powertrain units are included in the $2,350,000 price. Customers opting for the gas-only version can save $500,000, making the HF-11 a unique proposition for those who value both traditional and modern performance experiences.

A Passion Project for True Enthusiasts

Oilstainlab is taking an innovative approach by involving its clients in the development process. The first 11 customers, affectionately called "Maniacs," will join the tuning and finalization stages, contributing to the car’s refinement. This exclusive group has already begun to form, with six prospective buyers committed to the project. "We're building more than just a car; we're building a family," says Nikita. "We don't want anyone who doesn't share our passion to be part of this."

Keeping the Enthusiast Experience Alive

Oilstainlab’s mission isn't about becoming a mainstream automaker. Instead, it’s about preserving a raw, engaging driving experience that larger manufacturers are unable to offer due to regulatory constraints. "The big manufacturers are handcuffed by regulations," Nikita says. "We want to build lightweight, engaging cars that no one else is building, purely for the true enthusiast."
