The UK-based tuning firm, known for pushing the limits of BMW performance, has taken the new M5 and given it a serious aftermarket makeover.
This isn’t just a set of cosmetic tweaks, it’s a full-scale transformation designed to enhance performance and aesthetics. And if their 1,500hp xDrive M2 drag car is anything to go by, you know they mean business.
Aggressive Carbon Styling by MHC LDN
Straight from the factory, the new M5 can look relatively understated, especially in darker colours. R44 has addressed this with a full carbon fibre aero kit from MHC LDN, bringing a more menacing road presence. The standout feature? A massive front splitter is is designed to make the nose appear lower, wider, and more aggressive. It even integrates seamlessly using 10 factory mounting points with no drilling required. This game-changing splitter is priced at £1,249.
For those who want the full package, the kit also includes carbon fibre side skirts, mirror covers, a rear spoiler, and a striking rear diffuser. The entire carbon kit costs £4,949, which, considering an M Performance rear diffuser alone costs £2,500, offers a solid balance of impact and value.
While the wheels remain stock, R44 has significantly enhanced the M5’s stance with AST lowering springs and Bimecc spacers. The prototype springs drop the ride height by 38mm at the front and 28mm at the rear, delivering a more planted look while closing up the factory arch gap. Meanwhile, 15mm spacers push the wheels outward for a more aggressive track width. For those looking for a slightly milder stance, 10mm and 12mm spacers are available.
Big Power Gains with RaceChip Tune
A build like this wouldn’t be complete without a serious power boost. Thanks to a RaceChip tuning module, the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 now cranks out a monstrous 863hp and 853lb ft of torque, significant jumps from the stock 727hp and 738lb ft. As a result, the M5’s 0 to 60 sprint has been slashed to just 6.4 seconds, making it an absolute missile on the road.
Exhaust Upgrade in Development
One common complaint about the new M5 is its subdued exhaust note. R44 Performance is already working on a solution, developing a custom exhaust system to give the car the soundtrack it deserves. While details are scarce for now, expect a much more aggressive tone to match its performance.
The G90 BMW M5 is already a powerhouse, but R44 Performance has taken it to a whole new level. The combination of carbon aero, a lowered stance, a wider track, and a brutal power increase transforms it into a far more exciting machine. Even if the full kit is too much for some, the spacers, springs, and rear spoiler alone make a noticeable difference.
And with the Touring version on the horizon, it’s exciting to imagine what R44 might do next. One thing’s for sure the conversation about the new M5 is far from over.
