The Mustang GTD is a remarkable blend of street-legal design and track performance, powered by an impressive supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine that delivers over 800 horsepower. With a base price of around $325,000, this high-performance vehicle offers a range of options to elevate its capabilities further.
One of the standout options is the Performance Pack, which ensures the Mustang GTD meets its ambitious goal of a Nürburgring lap time under seven minutes. This pack includes a larger front splitter, dive planes, additional underbody flaps, and a drag reduction system for the rear wing.
The Performance Pack also features the Lightweight Pack, which includes 20-inch magnesium wheels, a unique front fascia, and the removal of sound-deadening materials to reduce weight. Ford has yet to specify the weight savings from this pack, nor whether it will be available as a standalone option.
At Le Mans, the Mustang GTD will be showcased as a special Carbon Series model. This edition features exposed carbon fiber on the hood, roof, and rear deck, with Magnetite-finished wheels. Buyers can also choose body-colored or contrasting painted stripes, and brake calipers in Grabber Blue, Race Red, or Black.
The Mustang GTD offers a luxurious yet sporty environment with leather and synthetic suede upholstery, carbon-fiber dash accents, Recaro bucket seats, and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission controlled by a titanium rotary dial shifter, crafted from retired F-22 fighter jets. The rear seats have been replaced with a polycarbonate window, providing a clear view of the sophisticated pushrod-actuated rear suspension and Multimatic's Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) dampers.
The flat-bottom steering wheel includes buttons for adjusting suspension firmness and exhaust mode. Additional buttons near the rotary dial shifter give access to the Track Apps page and activate the front-axle lift system.
Ford plans to produce the Mustang GTD for the 2025 and 2026 model years. The company has not disclosed the total number of units to be built or whether production will continue beyond these years. Potential buyers must complete an application process, which recently concluded for North American customers with over 7,500 applications received. The application process for European buyers begins on June 13.
