People are eager to spend big bucks on the new Mustang! Just last month, Ford opened applications for its Mustang GTD, first unveiled last summer.

Ford revealed that 25% of applicants are current Mustang owners, while 20% already drive high-performance cars from rival brands.
A separate application process for customers in Europe, West Asia, and Mexico will be announced in June, coinciding with the Mustang GTD’s European debut. This exciting reveal will take place alongside the 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting on the weekend of June 15.
The Mustang GTD is a street-legal, track-focused marvel with a price tag of over $325,000. Despite its hefty cost, its performance is set to rival that of dedicated race cars. Based on the latest seventh-generation Mustang, this beast boasts carbon-fiber bodywork, an advanced suspension system featuring an inboard setup at the rear, and a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine aiming for around 800 BHP.
Adding to its impressive specs, the Mustang GTD includes active aerodynamics with a Drag Reduction System (DRS) akin to those in Formula 1. This system integrates both the rear wing and flaps under the front and rear of the vehicle, remaining open during regular driving but closing during high-speed cornering to enhance downforce.
One of Ford’s ambitious goals for this car is a Nürburgring lap time of under seven minutes. Testing at the Nürburgring will kick off this summer, with an official attempt planned before the end of the year.
Ford has not disclosed the exact number of Mustang GTDs to be produced or the duration of its production run. They have confirmed that it will be a limited production. The assembly of these cars will be handled by Multimatic, the renowned Canadian company responsible for building the latest GT supercar.
