Now rolling off the production line at Hennessey's headquarters in Sealy, this upgrade transforms the iconic American pony car, boosting its power by an impressive 70 percent to achieve a staggering 850 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a high-performance variant of the celebrated ‘S650’ Mustang, originally features a naturally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5.0-liter V8. Hennessey’s engineers have taken this formidable foundation and added a high-performance supercharger, high-flow air induction system, enhanced fuel injectors and fuel pump, and a meticulously developed engine management system.
From the factory, the Dark Horse delivers 500 bhp and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds with the 10-speed automatic transmission. Hennessey’s H850 upgrade slashes this time to just 3.2 seconds. While the stock Dark Horse completes the quarter-mile in 12 seconds at 118.4 mph, the H850 manages the same distance in a mere 10.9 seconds at 133 mph.
John Hennessey, Founder and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm: “Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse builds on Ford’s commitment to provide automotive enthusiasts with passion products like the snarling V8-powered S650 Mustang. We’re excited to unleash Hennessey’s passion for performance on America’s most iconic muscle car with all the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations that get our blood pumping!”
Hennessey's modifications make the H850 Mustang Dark Horse even more formidable than the upcoming $300,000 Ford Mustang GTD, which boasts 800 horsepower. The H850 offers supercar-like performance at a fraction of the cost, along with the exhilarating experience of a supercharged V8.
To complement the potent power upgrade, Hennessey offers additional visual enhancements for the H850 Mustang, including optional Heritage Graphics and forged performance wheels in gloss anthracite. Distinctive features also include Hennessey and H850 badging, embroidered headrests, and a serial-numbered engine plaque.
The ‘H850’ Mustang Dark Horse is available in both automatic and 6-speed manual versions, each backed by Hennessey’s comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty. Production is currently underway at Hennessey’s Sealy, Texas facility.
