Lia Block Set to Drive Subaru WRX at 2024 Lake Superior Rally

Following in her father’s iconic footsteps, Lia will drive a Subaru WRX ARA24 in the upcoming 2024 Lake Superior Performance Rally, part of the American Rally Association (ARA) series. The event, which starts on October 11 in Marquette, Michigan, will mark the final rally of the 2024 season.

A Special Opportunity with Subaru

Lia, along with her co-driver Keaton Williams, will be taking over Brandon Semenuk’s Subaru WRX for this race. Semenuk, having already secured his third ARA championship, will sit this event out, offering Lia the unique opportunity to showcase her talents on the rally stage. "My family and I have such a special history with this team," Lia stated, referring to Subaru’s longstanding relationship with her late father. "I wouldn't want this milestone to be with anyone else."

Ken Block, known for his thrilling Gymkhana video series and immense impact on rally racing, began his career in a Subaru WRX, making this collaboration with Lia all the more symbolic. Ken tragically passed away in a snowmobile accident in 2023, but his legacy continues to inspire a new generation of drivers starting with his daughter.

Lia Block's Rapid Rise in Motorsports

Lia’s racing career has been on a fast track, thanks to early guidance from her father. Ken Block taught her the art of drifting at just 13 years old and allowed her to drag race his famous “Hoonicorn” 1965 Ford Mustang when she was only 14. Since then, she has made significant strides in the racing world, including driving her father’s "Hoonipigasus" Porsche 911 in a Pikes Peak demonstration and competing in high-profile events like the Baja 1000, Extreme E, and kart racing.

Most recently, Lia has been representing the Williams team in the 2024 F1 Academy season, further showcasing her versatility as a driver.

Her victory made her the youngest champion in ARA history, proving she’s more than ready for the challenges ahead.
