With the discontinuation of the limited First Edition models, the refreshed range introduces the Emira Turbo SE alongside the familiar 360hp AMG-powered 2.0-liter Emira Turbo and the 400hp 3.5-liter supercharged Emira V6.

The Emira Turbo SE: A New High-Performance Benchmark

The Emira Turbo SE revives a name synonymous with iconic Lotus models like the Esprit, Europa, and Excel. This latest iteration squeezes 400hp from its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, matching the power output of the V6 variant. Torque has also seen a bump, with the Turbo SE delivering 353 lb-ft compared to the previous 332 lb-ft. Lotus claims this makes the SE the fastest Emira to date, achieving a 0-62mph time of just 4.0 seconds, compared to the 4.3 seconds of the V6 manual. Both models share a top speed of 180mph.

The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), renowned for its swift gear shifts, remains a staple in the SE, further enhancing its performance appeal. This variant seems tailored for enthusiasts prioritizing speed and precision, while the V6 manual caters to those seeking a more traditional sports car experience.

New Features and Design Updates

In addition to the performance upgrades, the Emira range refresh comes with notable styling and equipment enhancements. The SE stands out in a new Zinc Grey paint finish, complemented by bespoke 20-inch forged alloy wheels, red brake calipers, black Lotus badging, and an Alcantara-lined interior. The SE also comes standard with the 'Lotus Drivers Pack,' which includes upgraded brakes, launch control, and sports suspension settings. Michelin Cup 2 tires, previously reserved for the Sports chassis Emira, now come standard on the SE.

The V6 model in the updated range features cross-drilled and ventilated brake discs, paired with a more comfort-oriented Touring suspension and Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tires. Lotus seems to be streamlining the range, offering the manual V6 in a more relaxed configuration, while the Turbo SE is positioned as the more dynamic and performance-focused option.

Lotus Emira Turbo SE: A Closer Look at the 2025 Range

Dan Balmer, President and CEO of Lotus for Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, emphasized the significance of this new lineup: “We are thrilled to announce the addition of new variants to the award-winning Emira, one of the most successful Lotus models to date. In 2025, the Emira range will extend to meet wider customer needs while retaining the brand’s DNA and driving dynamics Lotus is renowned for.”

The refresh isn't limited to international markets. In the U.S., the Emira Turbo SE variant has replaced the 2.0-liter First Edition, offering a bump in power and torque. It's only a matter of time before the UK sees its own Emira update, likely to follow suit with the new SE and other refinements.

The Wait is Worth It

For those in the market for an Emira, the updated 2025 range promises thrilling choices, especially with the introduction of the 400hp Turbo SE. Whether you’re drawn to the raw power of the 2.0-liter SE or prefer the classic feel of the V6 manual, Lotus continues to blend its renowned driving dynamics with modern performance advancements.

For enthusiasts eager to get their hands on the current Emira, there are still a few First Edition models available, starting at £60k. However, with the SE’s enhanced performance figures, waiting for this turbocharged variant might just be worth it.
