Manthey, a Porsche subsidiary since 2013, has a reputation for turning track-ready cars into world-class performers, and this kit is no exception.
Radical Aerodynamic Enhancements
The most striking change in Manthey’s upgrade is the removal of the rear window. Replacing it is a 25% lighter carbon fiber panel featuring a shark fin antenna inspired by the Porsche 963 endurance racer. Complementing this are six roof-mounted fins designed to channel hot air away from the front radiators, ensuring cooler air flows into the rear intakes.
To boost downforce, Manthey has reimagined the rear wing with updated endplates and expanded the diffuser for better aerodynamics. The addition of carbon fiber aerodisc wheel covers further enhances air resistance reduction. Combined, these changes enable the GT3 RS to generate a staggering 2,204 pounds of downforce at 177 mph, solidifying its position as a track-dominating machine.
Performance Beyond the Body
Manthey’s upgrades go beyond aerodynamic enhancements. The suspension system has been re-engineered with 30% stiffer spring rates at the front axle and 15% at the rear, providing better handling dynamics. Additional updates include:
Racing Brake Pads: Specifically designed for ceramic-composite brakes.
Shock Absorbers: Tuned for optimal track performance.
Miscellaneous Add-Ons: These range from illuminated carbon fiber door sill guards to LED door projectors and a tow hook designed for track use.
Nürburgring Aspirations
Manthey’s upgrade package underwent extensive testing over two years, covering thousands of miles on European racetracks. The team is now eager to take the revamped GT3 RS to the Nürburgring in a bid to break its predecessor’s lap record of 6:49.32, set in October 2022. Their target? Getting closer to the 6:43.30 lap time achieved by a previous-generation 911 GT2 RS with Manthey components.
Availability and Pricing
GT3 RS owners can now order the new Manthey kit. Deliveries to European Union countries begin in January, with availability in non-EU regions starting in March. While pricing hasn’t been disclosed, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS package starts at $53,946 in the United States, excluding installation costs, offering a benchmark for expectations.
With this kit, Manthey demonstrates its relentless pursuit of performance perfection, ensuring the outgoing 911 GT3 RS remains a formidable force on the track.
