The debut of the car occurred last summer during the 2023 Monterey Car Week. The vehicle is undergoing final track testing in preparation for deliveries commencing in late summer.

Designed exclusively for track use, the MCXtrema will not be road-legal and does not conform to racing regulations. Maserati intends to provide future owners with a comprehensive suite of services centered around the vehicle, including driver coaching courses, track experiences, logistics support, and more, under the MCXperience program.

Maserati will introduce a customization program called MCXlusiva, allowing owners to personalize their vehicles. Owners will have access to predetermined customization options as well as the bespoke option called Beastspoke, which permits selection of their racing number and accent colors within the cabin.

Maserati MCXtrema. The beast unleashed

The MCXtrema showcases a carbon-fiber body enveloping the same Dallara-developed carbon tub utilized in the MC20, bolstered by an FIA-homologated roll cage. Its powertrain consists of the identical twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine featured in the MC20, albeit calibrated to produce 730 horsepower, an enhancement from the MC20's 621 horsepower. Maserati highlights that the installation of new turbos was pivotal in achieving this upgrade.

Among its notable attributes are a 6-speed sequential transmission equipped with paddle shifters, adaptable aerodynamics and suspension, lightweight Lexan windows, Brembo brakes, and 18-inch forged wheels with center locks.

Production of the MCXtrema is managed by Maserati's Fuoriserie personalization department. This division is positioned to potentially generate additional limited-production vehicles, including bespoke commissions. The MCXtrema serves as a demonstration of the capabilities within the Fuoriserie realm.

This isn't Maserati's initial foray into launching a track-exclusive supercar. The company previously introduced the MC12 supercar, which also featured a track variant known as the MC12 Versione Corse, limited to just 12 units.
