For the first time, both the standard GT3 model and the Touring variant are launching together, each showcasing an "expanded lightweight strategy" and more customization options, while retaining the hallmark 9,000 rpm flat-six engine.

Engine and Performance Enhancements

The new GT3 continues with its 510 hp 4.0-liter engine, but it now features racier camshafts borrowed from the GT3 RS, designed to enhance performance at higher revs. Both the six-speed manual and seven-speed PDK transmissions have an eight percent shorter final drive, ensuring a more dynamic driving experience. Despite strict emissions regulations, Porsche promises an engaging soundscape, thanks to two particulate filters and four catalytic converters. The GT3's top speed remains above 190 mph, with a 0-62 mph time of under four seconds, regardless of the transmission choice.

Chassis Upgrades and Aerodynamic Tweaks

The chassis receives significant updates, including aero-optimized front trailing arms, which improve brake cooling and boost downforce around the front wheel arches. The new design reduces pitch under braking, with the front ball joints set lower for enhanced stability. Upgraded dampers and improved wet-weather tires further enhance track performance. For the enthusiasts, a new, unnamed track tire option is also available, and a lighter lithium-ion battery helps shed four extra kilograms.

Sleeker Design and Improved Aerodynamics

Porsche has refined the design of the GT3, introducing updated Matrix LED headlights, new spoiler side plates, and a re-contoured front diffuser. Underbody changes contribute to better airflow and increased downforce. Perhaps most eye-catching are the newly designed wheels, which reduce unsprung mass. For those wanting to go further, an optional magnesium rim package is available, but only with specific packages, encouraging buyers to personalize their GT3 experience.

The Weissach and Leichtbau Packages

A highlight for this generation is the Weissach package, previously exclusive to RS models. Now available on the GT3 for £19,530 (with a roll cage) or £15,597 (without), this package includes CRFP components beneath the car (such as the rear axle shear panel, coupling rods, and anti-roll bar) and carbon fiber accents on the roof, spoiler, and mirror caps. Additionally, the package offers Racetex interior detailing and the option for magnesium wheels (£13,760). Buyers can even opt for a carbon-fiber roll cage, pushing the GT3's lightweight theme to the extreme.

The Touring model is not left out. For £29,225, the Leichtbau package gives buyers magnesium wheels, a carbon roof, and other carbon components similar to the Weissach package, along with a specialized gear lever and a distinctive "Leichtbau" plaque. While the price may be steep, it’s expected to be a popular choice among enthusiasts.

Additional Customization and Interior Features

Porsche continues to offer exclusive customization options, including a new Porsche Design timepiece, a COSC-certified watch with a titanium case and WERK 01.200 movement. For the first time, rear seats can be installed in the Touring, making it a versatile option for those who need practicality with performance. Other available features include carbon-shell heated bucket seats, with removable padding for those planning to wear a helmet during track days.

Inside, Porsche pays homage to classic racing cars, with the digital dash configurable to show 9,000 rpm at 12 o'clock. Unlike other models in the 911 lineup, the GT3 retains a rotary ignition switch, emphasizing its motorsport roots. This design choice reflects the influence of Andreas Preuninger, Porsche’s head of GT cars, known for his commitment to maintaining the GT3's pure driving experience.

Statement from Porsche’s GT Division

Andreas Preuninger commented on the new release: “The new 911 GT3 has become even more exhilarating and individual. We dug into a wealth of details and gave it many features that our customers wanted. This allows the GT3 to be adapted even more specifically to the purpose or preferences of the driver.”

The 992.2 GT3 aims to offer a broader range of configurations than ever before. Whether opting for a four-seat, PDK-equipped Touring or a track-focused, six-speed manual with the Weissach package, each version delivers a unique driving aura. UK orders for the new GT3 open at the end of the year, starting at £157,300. Enthusiasts eager to secure their allocations will need to act quickly, as demand is expected to be high.
