Polish tuner Carlex Design has taken a fresh approach to luxury SUV customization, drawing inspiration from classic Mercedes-Benz models.

A Unique Spin on the AMG G63

Rather than following the increasingly popular restomod trend, Carlex has chosen to modernize the iconic AMG G63 with striking vintage styling elements. This bold move combines the powerful performance of a contemporary G-Wagen with the timeless aesthetics of classic Mercs.

While many tuners opt for over-the-top modifications, Carlex Design has embraced a more refined, retro-inspired look for its G63 Vintage. The 20-inch wheels alone speak volumes about this design philosophy. They're a perfect blend of vintage flair and modern performance a throwback to the elegance of the past but with today's engineering precision.

Carlex describes the G63 Vintage as a “response to the prevailing trends of muscular, loud modifications,” positioning it as a model that “embodies subtlety and classic style.” The bright orange two-tone paint job and the SUV's increased height (lifted by 10 cm) and width (expanded by 8 cm) might not scream subtlety at first glance.

Modern Performance Meets Vintage Styling

One of the standout features of this build is the use of painted carbon fiber to mimic chrome bumpers. The interior, on the other hand, is anything but subtle. The cabin has been fully retrimmed with Nappa leather, adding a layer of luxury that matches the refined exterior. The real surprise is in the boot, where Carlex has opted for yacht-style wood flooring a unique detail that sets this build apart from other high-end customizations.

Ready for Delivery by March 2025

The first Carlex G63 Vintage is already in production, with deliveries expected in March 2025. For enthusiasts who crave a unique take on the G-Wagen, this model could be the perfect alternative to the aggressive, carbon fiber-heavy designs from brands like Mansory.

So, if you're in the market for a modified G-Wagen, would you opt for the vintage-inspired elegance of Carlex Design, or lean towards the more extreme interpretations from other tuners?
